Seattle Sounders 3-3 New England Revolution

Lodeiro (75) Kobayashi (15)

Bruin (85) Agudelo (26, 54)

Alonso (88)

Osvaldo Alonso’s late header was enough to rescue a point for the home side in this clash, as New England threw away a three goal advantage in the last 15 minutes. It was a result that put both sides on ten points in their respective conferences.

This clash at Century Link Field saw two sides with similar form lock horns, as both sides went in search of their third win of the season. It was the visitors who started the strongest, and they got their rewards after 15 minutes, when Daigo Kobayashi netted a right footed effort from the edge of the box.

Things went from bad to worse for The Sounders, as Revolution doubled their lead after 26 minutes, thanks to a close range header from Juan Agudelo. Jordan Morris had a number of chances for the home side before half time, but Revolution took their two goal advantage into the break.

USA International Agudelo popped up again to seemingly put the game beyond doubt after 54 minutes, following a counter attacking move which proved too hot to handle for The Sounders.

But last seasons MLS Cup winners were not dead and buried - Nicolas Lodeiro’s left footed effort gave The Sounders a lifeline after 75 minutes. Sounders started to pile on the pressure, and Revolution dropped deeper and deeper to try and hold on to the win.

Will Bruin rose highest for Sounders after 85 minutes, though, and nodded home to set up a nervy finale for the visiting side.

And three minutes later, the comeback was complete, as Alonso’s close range header broke the hearts of New England Revolution, and rescued a valuable point for the Seattle Sounders.
