Nemanja Nikolic bags a brace as Chicago pick up three points against 10 men New England.
Both teams went into this fixture on the back of victories with Chicago beating Columbus and New England beating Houston.
Chicago had made two changes coming into the game and made a formation change going to a four-back defence compared to last week’s three-back defence.
New England made one change with Diego Fagundez being replaced by Je-Vaughn Watson with Kelyn Rowe going into the midfield diamond.
Chicago thought they had taken the lead in the 20th after Nikolic’s goal was disallowed after he headed home in an offside position from a flick on by Luis Solignac.
New England’s afternoon got harder when Watson picked up a second yellow in the 27th minute for a reckless tackle just minutes after he received his first yellow leaving his side down to 10 men.
Chicago had a man advantage and instantly went close with Juninho’s shot inches away from the post after create play from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Brandon Vincent.
Chicago then broke the deadlock in the 45th as Schweinsteiger run was found by Solignac and his low shot fired past the keeper to give the German his second of the season.
Chicago grabbed their second minutes after the restart as Nikolic fired in after Michael De Leeuw scuffed his attempt into the path of the striker.
New England could not hold any possession which showed in the stats as Chicago held 75% of the ball.
New England tried to respond after they won a corner in the 50th minute when defender Josh Smith headed wide of the goal.
In the 73rd minute Chicago substitute David Accam made an immediate impact after he burst past the New England defence and placed a beautiful ball into Nikolic who finished calmly to give Chicago their third goal of the game.
Chicago now go into a run of three away games looking to keep up their positive run. Next up Toronto FC.
New England return to a two-game home run with a midweek fixture against San Jose Earthquakes looking to bounce back.
