Matchday 4 Preview - Pt1

As you probably know, this match week is pretty confusing. Three matches scheduled for Saturday 25th March, then five for Saturday 1st April, followed by four on Sunday 2nd April and two on Monday 3rd April, so this preview will be split into two, the first being this week and the second for next week.

Last weekend saw some great matches across the board in the MLS. Atlanta United were the stand out performers in my eyes with a comfortable win over Chicago, and they are really showing that they’ve got what it takes to handle the MLS. Seattle came back against Red Bulls to cruise to a 3-1 victory, whilst New York City FC could only hold Montreal Impact to a tight draw at home.

This weekend only features three games, but they are definitely some good ones! New boys Minnesota take on New England on Sky Sports 5 at 6:00PM GMT, but luckily for them the Revs are in a spot of bad form, so this could see them turn out there first ever win in the MLS. New York Red Bulls will be hoping to bounce back after their loss against Seattle against Real Salt Lake on Sky Sports 5 at 8:00PM GMT, who are also yet to record there first win this season. Finally we have Columbus Crew vs. Portland Timbers, which looks to be another good fixture and kicks off at 11:30PM GMT, but is not broadcast on British television. Columbus are coming off the back of a good away win against DC United, whilst Portland are also in good form with three wins from three.

Saturday 25th Predictions

New England Revolution vs. Minnesota United – The Revs will be looking to get their first win of the season as will Minnesota. Kei Kamara will be hoping to open his MLS account, having registered 7 shots so far without a goal. Christian Ramirez and Kevin Molino will be the two players to look for if Minnesota are to win this game, as both players have registered two goals so far this season, and all four of Minnesota's.

Minnesota WIN

New York Red Bulls vs. Real Salt Lake – Red Bulls have started the season quite well despite losing against Seattle last weekend. Wright-Phillips will be hoping to find his fine scoring form from last season against a Salt Lake team that are yet to record a win this season. Joao Plata will be looking to score his first goal of the season for Salt Lake this weekend.

New York Red Bulls WIN

Columbus Crew vs. Portland Timbers – Portland look the real winners ahead of this game with their current form. Three wins from three so far this season whilst Columbus are still looking to carry on winning ways, which will help to make this a really entertaining match. Ola Kamara will be hoping to end Portland’s run whilst Valeri will be looking to carry it on.

Portland WIN

A three-fold accumulator on my predictions shows odds of 34.7/1, which would return £35.70 off of a £1 bet, but that doesn’t sound very fun. £10 would return £354.70, so choose as you wish! Lets hope I’m right, and let us know how you all did if you went for it.
